The underground operation utilizes continuous mining units employing room-and-pillar mining techniques to produce low-sulfur coal.
Substantially all of the coal produced at MC Mining in 2009 met or exceeded the compliance requirements of Phase II of the Federal Clean Air Act. The preparation plant has a throughput capacity of 1,000 tons of raw coal an hour. -

Pontiki utilizes continuous mining units employing room-and-pillar mining techniques to produce low-sulfur coal from the Pontiki Van Lear Mine.
The preparation plant has a throughput capacity of 900 tons of raw coal an hour.
