Alliance Coal Internship Program

Since 2006, over 250 students have participated in the Alliance Coal Internship Program.  The program allows students to learn about Alliance and its operations, focusing on areas of particular interest to each student.

Interns are placed throughout the Alliance system, with internships focusing on operations, project engineering, geology, corporate management, and other areas.  Our interns come from many disciplines of study, including:

Engineering

  • Mining
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Civil
  • Industrial
  • Electro-Mechanical
  • Chemical

Engineering tech programs

Geology

Business

  • Business Administration
  • Accounting
  • Finance

Computer Sciences

Occupational Safety & Health

Two-year programs

  • Surveying
  • Electronics Technology

Interns receive hands-on training each day and are offered the opportunity to make meaningful contributions rather than just “busy-work.”  The program is designed to allow interns to understand the role of professionals working at Alliance and to build the foundation for future success.

More than 150 students have served as repeat participants in the program.  Each year offers additional experience and reveals new aspects of a particular position.  Alliance is proud that many of full-time employees were hired directly from the Alliance Coal Internship Program.
